This'll take a bit, but if you want more, head over to my blog, Marshall and read in full my reaction.

Best Picture:

I have yet to see "A Serious Man" (REALLY REALLY WANT TO), but I think the nomination for "The Blind Side" is stupid and pandering. Not nominating "(500) Days of Summer," "The Hangover," or "Star Trek" is probably going to bite them in the butt for the next month. I have no problem with any of the other nominees though.

Best Actor and Supporting Actor:

The locks in both are Bridges and Waltz. I have no issue with the other nominees, but I think Morgan Freeman is the odd man out here. I personally was more taken with just about six more performances in this category. Matt Damon might've been fantastic in the overhyped "Invictus," but he was INFINITELY better in "The Informant!" and I think was nominated in the wrong category for the wrong movie. Also who could've been nominated: Sharlto Copley for "District 9," Daniel Day-Lewis for "Nine," Robert Downey Jr. for "Sherlock Holmes," Viggo Mortensen for "The Road," and Michael Stuhlbarg for "A Serious Man." In the Supporting Actor category, I think I could've switched Matt Damon with either Michael Fassbender for "Inglourious Basterds" or Stanley Tucci for his brilliant, underappreciated turn in "Julie & Julia."

My favorite category is probably Best Original Score, since we have the best score of the year in Hans Zimmer's "Sherlock Holmes" masterpiece. The film wasn't perfect, but that score was. Alexandre Desplat's work on "Fantastic Mr. Fox" was complimentary to my favorite animated film of the year. I think Michael Giacchino could've been nom'd for either "Up" or "Star Trek" and I would've been happy, but the "Star Trek" score was better in my mind. Horner's work in "Avatar" is indeed derivative, but blood-pumping. The biggest snub in this category is Marvin Hamlisch's brilliantly kitschy scoring for "The Informant!"

That's all for right now, as I'm tired, but I will say that I'm content with a large majority of these nominations.
