I'm kind of in between you and James here. I don't know how much we're actually influenced by the media we consume-- I mean in terms of tangible, palatable real-world consequences and behaviors-- but I think James' point assumes way too much about the average upbringing of the American teenager. Sure, their parents should have taught them well by the time they're 18, but that doesn't often mean that they do.

Thanks for yet another shout-out! Much appreciated, once again.

"Does Hollywood really expect us to believe that 95% of the time, there are no consequences of having unprotected sex?"

Anything more than 5 percent consequences would be wildly unrealistic.

I don't think kids are as influenced by movies as you do. Besides, by the time they are old enough to see these R-rated movies by themselves, their parents or school should have taught them properly.

Violence is much less acceptable than sex, and it more easily seeps into PG-13 and even PG films.
