I was never a big fan of Burton’s previous movies so I had extremely low expectations for “Dark Shadows,” and I do think that led me to enjoy the movie more.

We all know that the Depp/Burton/Carter formula works commercially, but I was hoping for a true “return to form” with this film. I went online and rented it on Friday afternoon shortly before leaving my office at DISH. It was downloaded and ready to watch from my Hopper DVR the moment I walked in my door. Sadly, I didn’t find the Burton/Depp magic of old. Honestly, I have had trouble differentiating recent Burton/Depp films from one another, as they all look and feel the same. I hope these 3 take a long hiatus before making another film together, because I won’t watch the same movie again and again.
