Random Factoid #264

Remember back in December when I announced that “You’ve Got Me Wrapped Around Your Little Finger” by Beth Rowley from the soundtrack for “An Education” became the most played song on my iTunes?

Well, it has now broken another record on my iTunes.  It became the first song on any of my computers to cross the century mark – that is, 100 listens.

That’s me; what’s your most played song?  How many times have you listened to it?

For my iPod at the moment, it’s “Postcards from Italy” by Beirut…but here’s the thing. Once a year, usually mid-October, I make a playlist of the 20 tracks I’ve listened to most that year with the highest played track coming at the end. I cleverly call these mixes “I think, Therefore iPod”

Once the mix is made, I reset the playcount of every track on the iPod to level the playing field for next year’s mix

Over the last five years my most-played tracks have been:

“Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own” U2 (2005)
“Heart of Gold” Neil Young (2006)
“Keep the Car Running” Arcade Fire (2007)
“Viva la Vida” Coldplay (2008)
“Breathe” U2 (2009)

My most listened-to song is B-Boy by Crown City Rockers.
They’re my favorite band of all-time and B-Boy will always mark a specific time of my life. Here’s a YouTube link if you’re interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXtJRv36ttU
